Weekend Family Getaway

Can we say summer is officially over? Well typically after Labor Day the carpet is rolled up and it’s on to preparing for Halloween and Thanksgiving. But because we didn’t get to hang out at the beach often this summer or visit Martha’s Vineyard, we decided on a weekend family getaway. What’s more fun than hanging out with your family. If my kids had it their way they‘ll stay home playing video games and hanging out with their friends (teenagers).

We are typically last minute planners. I usually have it planned in my head but to execute, it’s usually at the 9th hour. I knew I wanted to go to the beach so we planned a weekend family getaway in Long Branch. The rooms were pretty booked in the area so we stayed at the Delta Marriott in Woodbridge and drove down to the beach the following day. To be honest I’m a Marriott girl, I love this hotel because I know the rooms are going to be clean, the sheets are going to be white as snow and the down pillows are like heaven on earth.

The best part of staying at the hotel this weekend was both the indoor and outdoor pool were open to the guest. Although we arrived a little late we had enough time to change into our swimsuits and enjoy the sun. It wasn’t crowded everyone stayed a safe distance. We ate at TGI Friday’s one evening, they are gradually opening up the restaurant to customers indoors here in NJ. You can choose to dine outside if you prefer.

Beach Day

The following day we headed to the beach. Once again because we didn’t plan properly and because I was watching Serena Williams play in the U.S. Open I forgot to grab my small cooler. But it was all good we managed.

The beach was a little crowded so we walked further down the boardwalk oppose to entering at the main entrance. We had to wait roughly 5 mins to enter the beach because they were monitoring how many people were leaving before allowing families and individuals on. We found a spot in the last row safely distance from others.

The weather was nice not too hot. There were people playing volleyball, dancing, playing their music just enjoying themselves. It was relaxing.
